There are a lot of ways to save money on our baby diapers, and some of them aren't as obvious as it would seem, and we'll get into one that a lot of parents don't think of when setting up their diaper savings strategy.
First of all we all know that baby diapers can be among the most expensive part of raising a baby in its early years, and so anything we can do to cut down on that expense will save us significant dollars over a year, and throughout the entire period our babies are in diapers.
I'm not going to get into the obvious aspects of saving money on diapers, as everyone knows to look for coupons and go online to get deals, and also to sign up at brand Web sites to get deals and free diapers when they come available; usually through email communications that are occasionally sent to us after we sign up.
Rather, what I'd like to do is concentrate on a couple of strategies you can employ that will save you money before all these other things.
First, there are ways to get free diapers, and let's face it, that's the best kind when you're looking to stretch you dollars.
The best way to begin your search is to find out where the nearest pregnancy center is in your area and contact them. Usually they will have free diapers available on a weekly basis, or at minimum, have free samples you can take home and try. Many places all you have to do is sign up and you can get free diapers consistently from them. How good is that?
So don't forget to try this out as part of your overall diaper savings strategy. They may not last for the entire week, but if you can get two or three days worth of diapers, you could save up to $10 a week, depending on where you live; maybe more. Add that up over a year and it's worth the effort.
The next major step in savings is to buy in bulk, and make sure you have a calculator on hand when at the store to add up the savings. There are times when a smaller package of diapers is less expensive than a larger package when including a coupon, or adding up the numbers and dividing them to make sure the price per diaper is known to you. The point is to buy in bulk, but do the math to ensure you're getting the best deal.
Another secondary benefit of buying in bulk is the gas savings when going out to get them. Don't underestimate secondary savings when buying goods. And because we need so many diapers, the amount we save by buying in bulk, along with savings on gas and wear and tear on the car, are not insignificant.
Finally, here's nifty little strategy to save money you may not have thought of: use different types of diapers for different times of the day.
For example, you want to use the better and more expensive diapers at night so you don't have problems with leakage. But in the day time, you can buy cheaper diapers where you'll be available to change them on a more regular basis.
Using the less expensive diapers in the day could save you up to almost 70 percent, again, saving you major bucks throughout the year.
So as you can see, add the coupon and joining diaper brand clubs online and you can see the major diaper savings you can make just through these several ideas.
